Watch: Purity Ring – “Belispeak”

Canadian electro-pop duo Purity Ring is still a relatively young band but since forming less than two years ago, they’ve signed to 4AD Records, collaborated with fellow Canadian dream-pop band Braids and are about to embark on a tour this summer with The Dirty Projectors. Their new album, Shrines, comes out July 24. Here’s a new video for their single “Belispeak”; watch below:

Can’t wait until June 12th to listen to the new Metric album? Well you’re in luck – the band is currently hosting a hide & seek game on their website which will lead to an early stream of their latest album. Synthetica is the follow-up to 2009′s Fantasies and for those in Toronto, Metric will be performing a live session for 102.1 The Edge at Sugar Beach on Monday, June 11th at 8PM. Oh, and it’s free! Free Metric for everyone!

Toronto four-piece Paradise Animals recently covered Bonnie Prince Billy’s “Wolf Among Wolves”, giving a nod to one of the band’s main folk influences while infusing their own spin of electronic ambience to the track. The band, now complete with new drummer Morgan Doctor (The Cliks, Andy Kim, Bob Wiseman), will be performing at this year’s NXNE at the Young Lions Music Club showcase (at the El Mocambo on June 15th) alongside Teenage Kicks, Paper Lions, Dwayne Gretzky and more.

Stereogum has already named Japandroids’ Celebration Rock the fourth best album of the year (so far) and many people have named lead single, “The House That Heaven Built” one of the songs of the summer so for those dying to hear the Vancouver duo’s new album, NPR is currently streaming the whole thing online.
