Upon hearing Fidlar, it’s pretty easy to understand why they were on the bill to open for the Hives. The fast surf rock/punk that they pumped out was in the same vein of early Hives music. With more of a specific content direction. Pretty much every song Fidlar preformed was about getting “fucked up” in one way or another.

Their opening song gave us a taste of what to come with “cheap beer,” where the chorus chanted “I drink cheap beer, so what? Fuck you!” Good party opener, I’d say. Unfortunately, when you have a full crowd to see the Hives, it’s a little difficult to get reciprocation. Regardless, the guys were pretty fun to watch on stage, with the lead singer rolling around stage and really rocking out.
