Catch This: Blake Mills opening for Fiona Apple at the Sound Academy

Blake Mills is probably best known for his work in other people’s bands such, from Jenny Lewis to Kid Rock. He’s a guitarist in-demand but his own music is about to get a pretty big spotlight as he opens a slew of tour dates for Fiona Apple including a stop in Toronto tomorrow night at the Sound Academy.

Mills’ debut album, Break Mirrors, is filled with introspective thoughts over warm acoustics and simplistic melodies. Mills is perfect for Jason Collett fans who need their fix of singer-songwriting perfection while waiting for Collett’s new album (coming this fall).

Mills recently collaborated with ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons and Matt Sweeney on the Fleetwood Mac tribute album, Just Tell Me That You Want Me. Listen to “Oh Well” below:
