Immaculate Machine

Immaculate Machine

In case you missed out on RIP: A Remix Manifesto during Canadian Music Week, you can pay what you can for a download of the whole film online! To pay (or not, if you’re financially strapped for cash at the moment) and watch it, click here.

Pink Mountaintops and Quest For Fire will be at the Horseshoe on June 14th.

Rock Plaza Central will be playing a slew of shows in Toronto soon, starting with a show at the Tranzac on May 25th. This is followed by a free in-store at Sonic Boom on May 26th and a set on May 27th at the George Weston Recital Hall during the day and at the Dakota Tavern with the Skydiggers at night. And if for some reason, you still end up missing out, they’ll be back for one more show on June 13th at Lee’s with Suckers.

Speaking of in-stores, Vetiver will be at Sonic Boom next Friday, May 15th at 7:00 pm, just before their set at the Horseshoe later that evening. This show is free and all-ages.

Immaculate Machine has a new video out for their single, “Sound the Alarms” Watch here. I’m still impartial to the new material from High on Jackson Hill, as I have yet to listen to the album, but “Sound the Alarms” is a good start; slightly stepping away from the happier pop tunes of Fables but still maintaining its light-hearted rock attitude. I look forward to hearing the full album!

Happy listening!

Musically,
Melody

Looking for something to do this Friday? Well shimmy your way over to The Rivoli for the CD release of The Paint Movement, also featuring Fox Jaws, Make Your Exit and Provincial Parks. It’ll set you back $8.00 – cheaper than a movie and definitely much more entertaining than whatever the SilverCity near you is playing. So be there!

Flight of the Conchords

Flight of the Conchords

I’m not a Superbowl fan so instead of watching that, I’ve decided to write a news update for everyone! Also I’m not going to lie; I was totally watching America’s Best Dance Crew earlier tonight. It’s an entertaining show! Plus it was Britney Spears night (and as anyone that knows me would know, I don’t hide my love for Brit Brit)! I think I just have a thing for reality dance shows in general…

ANYWAY…

Breaking news!! Bat For Lashes will be at the Mod Club on April 25th! Further details TBA

The March 24th show at Sneaky Dee’s featuring Born Ruffians and Akron/Family is now sold out but do not fear, a second date has been added on March 23rd! Grab your tickets now before they sell out again!

As previously reported, Bret and Jemaine of Flight of the Conchords are not only planning to release a follow up to last year’s self-titled album on April 14th, but they were going to embark on a big North American tour as well. Good news! Toronto’s lucky enough to have two tour stops at Massey Hall on April 21st and 22nd!!! Comedian Eugene Mirman will open for the duo on both dates. Pre-sale tickets will start selling tomorrow morning and general sale begins Friday February 6th! The only downside? Tickets are a bit pricy at $49.50 a piece… but think about it, think think about it.

Cut Off Your Hands will be in town for a show on Monday March 30th at the Horseshoe. Tickets will be $10, doors will be at 8:30 pm and yes, it is 19+.

The whole mix up of venues for the Friendly Fires show has finally been cleared up! They will be at Lee’s Palace along with White Lies and The Soft Pack on Tuesday March 31st. Tickets are $15 and doors will be at 8:00 pm.
