Canadian Music Week
That’s right, the Lamb will return on Monday! It’s been killing me to sit and not do anything with the site for the past week but do not fear, I will return with all the news updates and posts-galore! Mostly though, you’ll probably hear a lot about CMW (starting tomorrow!). So I thought I’d give you a taste of what I’ll be up to for the next few days! (I apologize, the following is actually copy and pasted from Facebook!)
So this is more or less my schedule from Wednesday to Saturday this week!
WEDNESDAY MARCH 11, 2009
Not many of the kick-off parties sounded interesting to me, so I have opted to go to The Happiness Project/Laura Barrett at the Music Gallery instead. It’s a non-CMW event, but honestly – how do you say no to Laura Barrett!? I haven’t seen her since her CD release party in September, so I’m definitely sticking to that show. But since it ends around 11 pm, I’ll probably trek over to the Gladstone and catch Lioness at midnight. I’ve been listening to a lot of them lately so it would be awesome to catch them live again.
I hate that I’m going to miss: Foxfire, Zeus/Will Currie and the Country French/Sloan
THURSDAY MARCH 12, 2009
This day’s still a little iffy right now but more or less this is how it’s going down: Head over to the Horseshoe for The Lovely Feathers (YES!) and $100 then either a) go down Queen St. to Drake Underground and catchRuby Jean and the Thoughtful Bees at 11 pm OR run up Spadina and catch the Montreal Sirius Radio showcase at El Mocambo (I’d get there in time to catch Radio Radio, We Are Wolves and Malajube).
Edit: So I’ve decided to take a risk and go to Ruby Jean and the Thoughtful Bees and then promptly jump on a streecar (or even take a taxi, because God knows how reliable streetcars are) over to El Mocambo for Malajube. I love Ruby Jean and the Thoughtful Bees too much to miss them!
I hate that I’m going to miss: Laura Peek & The Winning Hearts, The Week That Was/The RAA, Hexes & Ohs/Will Currie and the Country French/Sloan, 6 Day Riot, Mother Mother
FRIDAY MARCH 13, 2009
I think I’ll be skipping out on Friday as I may have to attend a non-CMW Hawaiian luau at a friend’s place. But if plans fall through, I’d be catching Hooded Fang for sure at 9 pm at the Gladstone, followed by Green Go at 11 pm at the Supermarket.
I hate that I’m going to miss: Will Currie and the Country French (it’s just not working out, damn it!), Josh Reichmann & The Oracle Band, Dinosaur Bones/The Bicycles/Human Highway/Handsome Furs, Mothers Fathers, The Ghost is Dancing/The D’Urbervilles, An Horse
SATURDAY MARCH 14, 2009
Okay, there is no changing my mind on this day. I know what I’m doing for sure! In the afternoon, I’ll be catching the all-ages show at Trash Palace featuring The RAA, Dinosaur Bones, Great Bloomers andPeachcake (sweet line up or what!). That’ll take me up to 5 pm, in which I’ll be running to do an interview at the Horseshoe – which is good anyway because I’ll be there for the rest of the night for Chart’s showcase. Most exciting line up of the week: The Hundreds and Thousands, Rebekkah Higgs, Young Galaxy, Two Hours Traffic, The Golden Dogs, Hexes and Ohs, Vancougar and Dave Marsh and True Love Rules. YES!
I hate that I’m going to miss: 6 Day Riot, Hey Rosetta/Crystal Castles, Julie Fader, The Miles/Library Voices/Young Rival, Jon-Rae Fletcher/Herman Dune/Basia Bulat/Elliott Brood/Cuff the Duke (line up that I’m most pissed to miss!), The Ting Tings, Jenn Grant, Valery Gore
AND THAT’S IT! In between all of this craziness, I’ll try to catch a movie or two, do a few interviews for the Singing Lamb, and go to school! Insane? Yes. Fun? HELL YES.
Let me know if we’re compatible! HAVE A FANTASTICAL WEEK, EVERYONE!
Also, I’d like to apologize for the millionth time for the lack of posts on the Lamb. I thought that things would’ve been better kept when I was away but everyone’s been quite busy lately because of school and work. Do not fear though, I will take full control again and the site will be booming with posts; I promise! The Singing Lamb is a top priority of mine; who needs a child when you have a lamb? Oh also, the Shows page has been partially updated! By next week, it’ll be 100% fixed for your viewing pleasures! Thanks for bearing with us; we love you all!
Happy listening!
Musically,
Melody
