Nick and Norah!
Bienvenue!
…And that’s about as much French as I will speak here in Montreal this weekend. I’ve only been here for a few hours, but it feels so good to be out and about back here. Unfortunately, there are no good shows going down (with the exception of The Big Bang tour featuring Jamie Lidell and Chromeo – but I’d only be there for Lidell), so my sister and I have opted to stick with good ole movies instead.
Although I’ve already seen it, my sister hadn’t seen Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. I’ll say it once, and I’ll say it again – it was short and incredibly sweet. And no, I wasn’t just referring to the stellar soundtrack. But while we’re on the topic of the soundtrack… may as well discuss! Even if the movie sucked, I would’ve loved them for the music alone. Not only were they able to squeeze in some great tracks by Islands, We Are Scientists, The Submarines, and Band of Horses, but I thoroughly enjoyed the cameos made by Bishop Allen and Devendra Banhart. Michael Cera may play similar roles often, but that doesn’t mean he’s not lovable and charming, especially as a heartbroken musician (awww!). And Kat Dennings as Norah just completes me. Simply put. Nick and Norah’s is certainly a cheesy one, but I loved every minute of it. Now I want to go to New York, damn it… anyone?
On a serious note, if you haven’t listened to Bishop Allen, please do so now. Don’t know where to start? Watch this.
I’m actually quite low on news today, so I’ll just keep this post short and sweet – just like Nick and Norah’s.
Musically,
Melody
